Autophagy
Breakdown or digestion of body proteins, such as those found in blood or within cells.
A regulated cellular process in which cytoplasmic contents (proteins, organelles) are sequestered in autophagosomes and delivered to lysosomes for degradation. Activated under energy stress and inhibited by mTOR signaling.
