Bulimia Nervosa
Eating disorder characterized by recurrent binge eating followed by inappropriate compensatory behavior (purging, fasting, excessive exercise).

Self-evaluation is unduly influenced by body shape and weight. Lifetime prevalence ~2% in women, ~0.5% in men. Medical complications include electrolyte disturbances, esophageal tears, dental erosion, and parotid gland enlargement (Russell's sign on hand). Cognitive-behavioral therapy and SSRIs are first-line treatments. RDNs lead the nutrition rehabilitation and structured-eating components.
