Calorie Count
Hospital-based observed record of all foods and fluids consumed, used to estimate inpatient energy and protein intake.
Nursing staff or dietary aides record what was offered and what was actually eaten over typically three days. The dietitian then calculates intake against the nutrition prescription. Used to evaluate whether oral intake is adequate before initiating nutrition support.
