COVID-19
Infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, with manifestations from asymptomatic infection to acute respiratory failure and multi-system disease.

Pandemic declared in March 2020. Nutritional implications include obesity as a major risk factor for severe disease, ICU malnutrition risk from prolonged ventilation and proning, dysgeusia and anosmia affecting intake, and Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC, 'long COVID') including chronic fatigue, GI symptoms, and altered taste. Vitamin D status has been studied as a modifier but evidence is mixed.
