Glycocalyx
Layer of glycoprotein and polysaccharide surrounding many cells.
Carbohydrate-rich coat on the external face of plasma membranes, contributing to cell recognition, adhesion, and protection. In enterocytes, it harbors brush-border digestive enzymes.
