Subjective Global Assessment
Bedside clinical tool combining history and physical exam to classify nutritional status as well-nourished, moderately malnourished, or severely malnourished.

SGA evaluates weight change, dietary intake, GI symptoms, functional capacity, disease/metabolic stress, and physical findings (subcutaneous fat loss, muscle wasting, edema, ascites). It is widely used in hospitalized and dialysis populations because it requires no laboratory data.
