TRPV6
Apical, vitamin D-induced, calcium-selective channel that mediates the entry step of transcellular intestinal calcium absorption.
Also: Transient receptor potential vanilloid 6
TRPV6 is the rate-limiting entry channel for transcellular Ca2+ absorption in the duodenum, working in series with calbindin-D9k and basolateral PMCA1b. Its expression is highly responsive to 1,25(OH)2D. Mouse knockouts of TRPV6 show reduced active calcium absorption but partially compensate via paracellular flux at adequate dietary calcium.
