Ubiquitin
Protein that attaches to other proteins to mark them for degradation.
Small protein covalently linked to substrates by E1-E2-E3 enzymes. Polyubiquitination targets proteins for 26S proteasome degradation; mono- and atypical chains regulate signaling, trafficking, and DNA repair.
